If you are on the hunt for a truly authentic Italian café experience in New York City, look no further than Rosetta Bakery. Stepping through their doors feels less like navigating Manhattan and more like walking straight into a chic neighborhood spot in downtown Milan. With its bright, modern design and the mouthwatering aroma of espresso and warm dough, this hotspot has quickly captured the hearts of local food purists.

Rosetta Bakery’s Gold Standard of Freshness

What sets this shop apart from standard neighborhood cafés is its uncompromising commitment to traditional, scratch-made methods. Everything you see behind the glass counter is made in-house daily.

Bread Baked Daily: The brand takes its name from the Rosetta, or Michetta, a historic, star-shaped roll with a light, airy center that has a long legacy in Milanese baking tradition.

Premium Ingredients: They do not cut corners. All cold cuts, including exquisite Prosciutto di Parma, salami, and mortadella, are sliced fresh and layered alongside imported Italian cheeses and crisp greens.

The “Live Menu” Concept: One of the best features of their shops is the transparent, glass-enclosed kitchen area. Visitors can stand by and watch the bakers knead dough, stretch pizzas, and fill pastries in real time.

The Bryant Park location in particular puts that same bread and pastry case right against a floor-to-ceiling window, with the park itself visible just across the street.

What to Order at Rosetta Bakery

Artisan Sandwiches: Served on immaculate focaccia, soft brioche rolls, or seeded grain breads. The classic prosciutto and fresh mozzarella combination is an absolute must-try.

Pizza & Focaccia: Thick, airy, Roman-style rectangular pizza slices topped with premium ingredients. The in-store board lists Margherita at $10.00, Ham & Cheese and Spicy Salami at $10.90, Fresh Mozzarella at $11.50, and Veggie Mix, Capricciosa, Speck & Potato, and Speck & Mushroom all at $11.90. Topped and filled focaccia are priced separately, and a rotating Pizza Gourmet is available too — the board itself notes that prices can shift slightly depending on the fillings.

Signature Pastries & Sweets: From ultra-flaky pistachio or Nutella-stuffed croissants to traditional Italian cream-filled bomboloni, the sweet side of the counter is pure bliss. The Sweets board runs from a $3.50 Mignon up through $9.50 items like Millefoglie, Tiramisu, and Eclair, with croissants, cookies, Girella, Sfoglia, Treccia, and Fruit Tart in between.

Coffee Bar: Pair your choice with an expertly pulled cappuccino to round out the experience. The Coffee Bar menu also lists Hot Tea ($4.90), Hot Chocolate ($6.10), Chai Latte and Matcha Latte ($6.80 each), and fresh Orange Juice ($9.20), with syrup, non-dairy milk, and an extra shot each around $1.20–$1.25.

Custom Cakes at Rosetta Bakery

Beyond the daily pastry case, Rosetta also runs a full custom cake menu, priced by size and serving count. Sacher Torte, Meringata, Saint Rosetta, and Classic or Chocolate Millefoglie are all available from a 7-inch (4 people) at $32 up through a 10-inch (10 people) at $80, with rectangular large-format options serving 12 to 40 people running from $96 to $320. Fruit Crostata follows the same size range at slightly lower prices, from $28 up to $70.

Inside Rosetta Bakery

The dining room leans into the same Milanese-café feeling as the counter: a large wooden cart wheel mounted on the wall, warm pendant lighting, communal wood tables, and big street-facing windows that fill the space with natural light. It’s as easy to grab a quick espresso standing at the counter as it is to settle in with a pastry and watch the city go by.

Other corners of the shop lean more casual, with low couches and woven stools for anyone settling in for longer than a quick espresso.

Hours & How to Get There

The Opening Hours sign posted in-store reads Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM — worth double-checking per location since hours can vary slightly by branch.

Bryant Park / Midtown South — 120 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036. Take the B, D, F, or M trains to the 42 St–Bryant Pk subway station, or the 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, or W trains to Times Square–42 St. It is a short walk from both hubs.

Theater District / Times Square — Located around Broadway and West 51st Street [confirm exact street number before publishing]. Ride the 1 or 2 train directly to the 50 St station, or take the N, R, or W trains to the 49 St station. The shop sits right in the heart of the theater rush, an easy stop before or after a show at Radio City Music Hall.
