La Casa del Mofongo & Piano Bar is a legendary 24-hour Dominican restaurant, lounge, and entertainment venue located at 546 West 207th Street in the vibrant Inwood neighborhood of Upper Manhattan. Fusing authentic Caribbean flavors with an electric nightclub atmosphere, this uptown hotspot is famous for serving over 30 variations of its namesake plantain dish before morphing into a high-energy dance club complete with live music, top-tier DJs, and hookahs.

The Food: Over 30 Ways to Experience Mofongo

The primary draw to the dining room is their extensive, traditional Dominican menu celebrating Caribbean comfort food.

Signature Mofongo: Over 31 styles of deep-fried, mashed green mofongo, heavily infused with garlic, olive oil, and crispy fried pork skin (chicharrón).

Versatile Toppings: Customize your platter with everything from classic longaniza (Dominican sausage) and oxtail (rabo) to luxury options like lobster, shrimp, or goat.

Global Touches: Surprisingly diverse menu extensions that feature items like volcano sushi rolls, traditional Caesar salads with grilled churrasco steak, and club sandwiches.

Tropical Refreshments: Wash it down with a full bar menu or natural juices like the classic milk-and-orange-juice Morir Soñando.

Live Performances & High-Energy Nightlife

When the sun goes down, the intimate dining room seamlessly transitions into a high-octane venue featuring a nightclub floor, colorful strobe lighting, and a packed bar area.

Dominican Megastars: The venue serves as a major tour stop for iconic Bachata, Merengue, and Dembow artists. Major artists like Zacarías Ferreira, El Chaval de la Bachata, and dembow powerhouses like La Perversa routinely play ticketed concert sets here.

Late-Night Vibes: Renowned local performers like DJ Adoni frequently host weekend club nights.

The Atmosphere: Intimate sightlines keep you close to the stage, making it a favorite spot for celebratory group birthdays, after-hours drinks, and hookah lounges.

The Bar at La Casa del Mofongo

The bar itself runs the length of the room, backed by a wall of liquor and lined with premium bottle service displays for Hennessy and Old Parr — the kind of setup built for group tables ordering bottles rather than single drinks. Sports plays on the wall-mounted TVs during the day before the room shifts into full nightlife mode after dark.

The Neighborhood: Manhattan’s Inwood Section

Situated at the absolute northernmost tip of Manhattan, Inwood is a historically rich, predominantly Dominican-American enclave known for its resilient community spirit, incredible street life, and massive green spaces.

Cultural Identity: Walking along 207th Street or Dyckman Street immerses you in the sights and sounds of the Caribbean, from bustling sidewalk fruit stands to bachata music drifting out of open storefronts. EnFlive has also covered Inwood favorites like 809 Bar & Grill and the Tinganiza Food Truck, both an easy walk from here.

The Parks: Contrast the high-energy club strip with Inwood Hill Park — Manhattan’s last remaining natural primordial forest, featuring salt marshes, prehistoric caves, and gorgeous Hudson River views.

How to Get There

Getting uptown to La Casa del Mofongo is incredibly straightforward via New York City public transit:

By Subway: Take the A Train directly to the 207th St Station (the last stop on the line), or the 1 Train to the 207th St–University Heights station. The restaurant is a short block’s walk away from either transit exit.

By Car: Located right off the Henry Hudson Parkway or the Major Deegan Expressway (via the University Heights Bridge). Valet parking or nearby garage facilities are heavily utilized due to tight street parking.
